Robin McKinley’s Beauty

Genre

Fairy Tale Adaptation

Review

Seriously wonderful storytelling! You can just hear McKinley’s voice narrating this novel in true fairy tale fashion. It has that old-fashioned timeless style, simplistic plot, and you enter Beauty’s mind as if you are reading a diary.

It is different to the fast paced, whirlwind romance that occupies most of the bestseller lists for young adults; but in a refreshing way.

For a Literature geek like myself, Beauty even echoes the heroines from Jane Austen, Charlotte and Emily Bronte and Thomas Hardy.

It is a book to read over and over again; just like a favourite bedtime story. For anyone who knows me, they know that I love Beauty and the Beast, Cupid & Psyche, and Hades and Persephone so, for me, this is just wonderful!

Who’s it for?

Again, anyone who loves fairy tale, and Beauty and the Beast

Read Again-ability?

I always read over and over again! I know I keep saying this for every single book, but it’s true!!

If you loved it, you’ll love
