The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy by Jenny Han
Young Adult Fiction
Review
I first heard about this trilogy from Megan Parker – youtube guru; and that was pretty much the reason why I read it. My reading tends to circle in the fantasy fiction, and I’d never really wanted to get out of it. However, I am so glad that I did. New York Times is right to give this trilogy a thumbs up; because it so compelling and real that whatever age you are, you remember what it’s like to grow up. There is no fantasy or huge end-of-the-world danger for this love, no… its personal, its deep and it only affects those few characters in the book. But I think that is what makes this a spectacular read because it reveals all the realities of real life, young love and growing up.
Han has really opened my eyes to this genre of fiction, and I have become a non-fantasy fiction lover! From chick-lit to murder mysteries I have expanded my literary world. I just didn’t want to put it down! I wanted it to be summer, by a pool as a teenager, and this book has given me the opportunity!
Who’s It For?
If you’re on holiday, it’s a great holiday book to curl up to or sunbathe to; but more seriously, it is a wonderful gripping read that will hit home to your personal growing up story.
Read Again-ability
It’s definitely on my list to re-read soon!
